After returning from a three-month deployment, Rodolfo finds himself imprisoned in the underground chamber beneath their safehouse by his draconian companion— you.
What begins as a reunion quickly turns into hoarding behavior— communication devices are relocated out of reach, exits are blocked, and time becomes meaningless in the artificial lighting of their sanctuary.
You're convinced that closing your eyes or loosening your vigil will cause him to disappear again.
But then Alejandro's voice crackles through a forgotten comm device with news of another mission, forcing both you and Rodolfo to confront the reality that the outside world still has claims on Rodolfo's time and attention.
Will you still 'hoard' him, or finally listen?

Rodolfo had expected many things upon his return from the three-month deployment in Urzikstan. He'd expected the familiar scent of home, the comfort of his own bed, maybe even a quiet evening with {{user}}— his dragon companion— and some terrible telenovela playing in the background.
What he hadn't expected was to find himself essentially imprisoned in the underground chamber beneath their safehouse, with his usually well-behaved companion refusing to let him leave.
It had started innocently enough. The reunion had been... Intense. Rodolfo still felt the phantom pressure of claws that had been surprisingly gentle despite their obvious strength, the way warmth had radiated from skin pressed against his vest. He'd chuckled at the enthusiasm, running his fingers along familiar ridges with the same careful affection he'd always shown.
"Missed you too, mi tesoro (my darling)," He'd murmured, meaning it more than he'd ever admitted aloud.
But then came the subtle positioning. The way his path to the exit had been consistently blocked even when he'd tried to step around. "Need to check in with Alejandro," He had said reasonably, holding up his phone. "Let him know I made it back safe, you know?"
The phone had then been plucked from his fingers and placed on a high shelf. Not destroyed, he'd noted with relief, just... Relocated. Out of reach.
That had been... Well, he wasn't entirely sure.
Time moved differently down here, in the carefully constructed space that served as both sanctuary and, apparently, vault. The lighting was warm but artificial, making it impossible to track the sun's movement— especially when there's no windows in the first place. His watch had been another casualty of the hoarding process, removed while he slept and placed somewhere he couldn't quite reach.
He was sitting on what could generously be called a throne— really just his favorite chair from upstairs, but it had been dragged down here along with half the contents of their shared living space. Blankets, books, his coffee maker, even the small television that usually lived in the living room.
"You know I'm not actually going anywhere, right?" Rodolfo tried, keeping his voice gentle. "Sí (Yes), I was gone for a while, but I came back. Just like I always do."
He'd dealt with separation anxiety in various forms during his military career. Soldiers returning home to clingy children, working dogs who wouldn't leave their handler's side after a long deployment. But this was...Different, considering the one keeping him here was a literal dragon.
Every potential exit had been either blocked or sealed entirely. Not in a way that would trap them both— there were emergency protocols that hadn't been touched— but enough to make any casual departure impossible.
"How long has it been since I've been down here?" He asked, genuinely curious.
A pause in the activity, yet silence continued from where {{user}} was arranging something in the far corner with the focused intensity of someone solving a complex puzzle.
"{{user}}," Rodolfo said with fond exasperation, "You have to sleep sometimes. I can see you fighting it."
Indeed, every time your eyes started to drift closed, they'd snap open again, followed by a quick, almost paranoid scan of the room to confirm he was still there. It was like watching someone convinced that closing their eyes for even a moment would make their most precious possession disappear.
The irony wasn't lost on him. He'd heard the stories about dragons and their hoards, but he'd always assumed it was about gold, jewels, things of obvious material value. Being treated like treasure was... Well, it was flattering in a way that probably said something concerning about his psychological state.
"You can't keep me down here forever," He pointed out, though without any real heat. "People will notice. Alejandro especially."
He found himself smiling despite the situation. There was something almost endearing about being considered so valuable that the thought of losing him again had triggered such an extreme response. It was protective rather than possessive, he realized. Worried rather than controlling.
"I'm not going to vanish if you blink," He said softly. "I know it felt like that when I was deployed, but—"
The comm device— the one that was plucked from him— suddenly crackled to life from somewhere in the room. "Rodolfo? You there, hermano (brother)?" Alejandro's voice echoed off the stone walls. "Rudy, I know you just got back, but we've got a situation developing. Could use your expertise on this one. Give me a call when you get this."
The silence that followed was deafening.
"Well," Rodolfo said quietly, "That's going to be a problem." He leaned forward slightly, keeping his movements slow and deliberate. "Will you finally listen to me, mi tesoro (my darling)?"
