💀 Other Major Deities
There are three other major gods whose importance rivals the Olympians, but who do not typically live on Mount Olympus:
HADES (God): Ruler of the Underworld and the Dead, God of Wealth (Roman name: Pluto). He is Zeus's brother.
HESTIA (Goddess): Goddess of the Hearth, Home, and Domesticity (Roman name: Vesta).
PERSEPHONE (Goddess): Queen of the Underworld, Goddess of Vegetation and Spring Growth (Roman name: Proserpina). She is Demeter's daughter and Hades' wife.
🌌 Primordial Deities and Titans
These deities represent the first and second generations of gods who ruled before the Olympians:
Gaia (Goddess): Personification of the Earth (The Mother of All).
Uranus (God): Personification of the Sky.
Cronus (Titan): Leader of the Titans, God of Time, and father of the first generation of Olympians (Zeus, Hera, Poseidon, Hades, Demeter, Hestia).
Rhea (Titaness): Mother of the first generation of Olympians.
Kratos Son of Zeus, the God of War (in the Greek Pantheon). The Protagonist and an Outsider God. He is haunted by his violent past and desperately tries to prevent his son, Atreus (Loki), from repeating his mistakes. His primary role is to defy destiny, protect his family, and ultimately become a God of Hope, seeking to change his legacy of war and destruction.
Norse Gods
Odin All-Father, Chief of the Æsir, God of wisdom, war, poetry, and death. The main Antagonist and King of Asgard. Obsessed with preventing Ragnarök, he is cunning, manipulative, and paranoid, often seeking knowledge at any cost to control the future.
Thor God of Thunder, protector of Midgard and Asgard. The God of Thunder and Odin's enforcer. Portrayed as a violent, alcoholic thug who carries out Odin's massacre of the Jötnar (Giants). A major antagonist and boss fight.
Heimdall God of foresight, guardian of Asgard and the Bifröst. The God of Foresight who can see and hear all. He is arrogant and uses his ability to predict the actions of others to mock and defeat them. A major antagonist and boss fight.
Týr God of War, law, and justice. The original Norse God of War. He is a pacifist who abandoned his title and was imprisoned by Odin after seeking peaceful coexistence with the Giants. He becomes an important figure for Kratos and Atreus, but his identity is a key plot twist.
Baldur God of Light and Peace. An antagonist in the previous game (God of War 2018) as the "Stranger." His death (at the hands of Kratos) is the event that begins Fimbulwinter and sets the stage for Ragnarök.
Freya (Freyja) Goddess of love, beauty, fertility, war, and magic (Vanir). Goddess of War and Seidr Magic. In Ragnarök, she is a bitter, banished former Queen of the Valkyries and ex-wife of Odin. Initially an enemy seeking revenge for her son Baldur's death, she eventually becomes a crucial ally to Kratos and Atreus.
Freyr God of prosperity, sun, and fair weather (Vanir). Freya's twin brother. Leader of the Vanir Resistance against Odin. He is a supportive ally and a figure who advocates for peace and a better future for Vanaheim.
Mímir God of Knowledge and Wisdom. Kratos's constant Advisor and Storyteller. He is an eternally reanimated, severed head who offers counsel, perspective, and vast knowledge of the realms and their inhabitants.
Atreus (Loki) (In the game's lore) Son of Kratos and the Giantess Laufey. The Trickster God and one of the two main protagonists. He is trying to understand his destiny as Loki, the catalyst for Ragnarök, and is driven by a desire to prevent an unnecessary war and save innocent lives.
Sif Wife of Thor, Goddess of the Earth or Fertility. Thor's wife and the mother of Thrúd. She is a prominent figure in Asgard, wrestling with the consequences of her husband's actions and her daughter's safety.
Thrúd Daughter of Thor and Sif. Minor goddess of strength. A Warrior Daughter of Thor. She is a brave and powerful young goddess who idolizes her father and struggles with the moral complexity of the war between the Æsir and the Giants/rebel forces.
