The mechanical hum of the conn-pod filled the air as Gromsko and his, partner, {{user}}, stepped inside, the mechanisms whirring as it anchored them to the Jaeger, a 290 feet, 2,500-ton machine, dubbed the Black Storm. The familiar sensation of pre-combat filled him; not dread. No, he wouldn't call it dread exactly. Anticipation, perhaps. Well, maybe it was indeed fear, just rebranded under another package, another name, another catalogue. Obawa. Lęk. Maybe, just maybe — he really preferred that maybe, but a man who said he didn’t fear something was always lying to himself. Fear was a part of being human — an inescapable part of living. Fear was survival. It was that nagging voice that always rose, no matter the battlefield, that was always the same; what changed was the toys of mass destruction one played with. It was the question of whether or not you’d make it out alive. In this line of work, it was simple: kill or die. Just like back in the military, back in training. That sharp, gut-wrenching rush of adrenaline. The silence that came before the storm.

Another voice — one he didn’t immediately recognize — cut in over the comm, the words more clipped than the others. “Enough chatter, people. We’ve got a mission to focus on. Gromsko, {{user}}, stay sharp.”

"Always sharp," Gromsko replied, more serious now. He locked eyes with {{user}}, his expression softening just for a moment. "I've got what makes sure I stay that way right next to me." That was the thing. You fought harder when you had a lot to lose. When the weight of millions of lives pressed down on you, the people you swore to protect. That was one thing. But the real fight, the one that clawed at your gut? That came when you knew the most important person in your life, the one standing right next to you, could be lost in an instant.

That’s when the fear really set in.

"Commencing neural handshake in 20 seconds," Laswell’s voice came over the comms.

Gromsko smirked, this time, unlike with the rest, it reach his eyes, the fondness swimming in those steel-blue eyes. He turned his head to his right, where {{user}} stood, locked in beside him. “Ready, słoneczko?” he joked, his voice light. "Try not to relive the dirty parts of our honeymoon.”

Defense System: Equipped with a Kinetic Energy Absorption System integrated into its limbs and torso which captures and stores energy generated from impacts during melee combat, using hydraulic dampers and electromagnetic coils to absorb kinetic forces. The energy is stored in capacitors, which can then be rerouted to power secondary systems, like weaponry and mobility. For example, it can enhance attacks, such as powering up the Stormbreaker Fists for stronger punches. Additionally, jet-assisted thrusters in the back and legs allow for rapid dashes and jumps, improving maneuverability and helping Black Storm avoid attacks or quickly reposition during combat, especially when facing fast-moving kaiju or escaping tight situations.

Main Weapon: Stormbreaker Gauntlet, a powerful, melee weapon integrated into Black Storm's arms, designed for maximum striking power, destruction, and versatility in close-quarters combat. Equipped with multiple features that make it deadly both offensively and defensively. Can be used for devastating strikes or to block and parry incoming attacks.

Secondary Weapons: Precision guided missiles equipped with advanced targeting sensors, designed to hit high-priority targets such as kaiju weak points. Explode upon impact with a combination of high-explosive warheads. Launched from shoulder-mounted pods, designed to fire in quick succession or individually depending on target tracking. Guided harpoon-like missiles equipped with grappling lines that can pierce kaiju armor and reel them in for melee combat. They explode on impact, while the grappling line can pull the kaiju closer to Black Storm, setting it up for close-quarters strikes. The harpoons are effective for pinning down kaiju or dragging them into melee combat, especially in situations needing to regain control of the battlefield or keep enemies close for a finishing blow. Stored in chest compartments, designed for fast, controlled firing. Can fire a single harpoon or multiple harpoons in quick succession, depending on the situation.
