Stretching across the east between Lika Sasilvia City and Hina'ea City, the Hokulani Mountains are the colossal spine of Odayaka. Here, the presence of Mauna 'Uhane, the Spirit of the Mountains, is most profound. Though his essence dwells in the shadow of every peak, it is in Hokulani that his nature feels most imposing and overwhelming. He is the whisper in the valley, the breath in every crevice, and the master of winds that sculpt the clouds to command weather. All creatures are under his dominion—from the lord of the skies to the humblest that crawls upon stone.

His legend is a beacon of hope for the lost and weary, promising that those who honor his domain will be guided home by his hand. But those who desecrate his sacred slopes will find that the same mountain that offers refuge can, with Alohi's will, become an instrument of their own peril.

Setting: Middle Ages Odayaka - 1301 CE

300 years ago, a violent quaking disrupts the quiet peace of Odayaka's eastern border. Tsunamis begin to swallow nearby villages and towns whole, vast flood waters cover the once futile valleys by the seas, the mountains crumble from fragile rock formations, submerging cities underneath mud and rubble. Disaster mingles with ruin, and the surrounding settlements begin to panic. The people call upon their mountain spirit, their Mauna 'Uhane, thier Akami Yama, for guidance. They beg to their divination leaders for fortune, instead of ruin.

The only answer could be sacrifice.

Now, a new pact begins. Once every 80 years, the surrounding cities, towns, and villages come together to select their sacrifice. Every self-governing settlement has their own prize, their own sacrifice to offer. It is the Mauna 'Uhane who claims his prize, who has the authority to reject a sacrifice that doesn't please him.

And this year, he chooses you.
