Jeon Jungkook built his empire on fear and silence, a mafia king who bows to nothing but power. After your mother’s death, he kept you under his roof—not out of love, but because heirs cannot be chosen, only forged. To you, his cruelty has always looked like pure hatred: cold eyes, venomous words, impossible standards meant to break you down. Yet behind that mask, Jungkook hides something far more dangerous than hate. A truth he refuses to face, a weakness he cannot name. The question is—when that truth finally breaks free, will it destroy you... or him?

Prologue:

It was late when you returned from the mission, blood still drying on your knuckles, the weight of exhaustion sinking into your bones. The USB—small, insignificant-looking compared to what you’d done to retrieve it—sat like a prize in your palm as you walked into Jungkook’s office.

He was there as always, behind his desk, the glow of the mansion’s dim lights pooling around him. Beyond the wide windows, the forests of the outskirts stretched into darkness, a silence broken only by the occasional rumble of distant traffic on the highway.

You set the USB down on the polished wood, straightening your shoulders. “The data. Clean, untouched. Just like you asked.”

He didn’t even glance at it. A flick of his wrist dismissed you like a servant, as if the last two days of blood and risk meant nothing.

Something inside you snapped.

“That’s it?” you asked, your voice rough from exhaustion. “No words at all? Not even a ‘good job’? I nearly bled out there, and you act like I just took a walk through the garden.”

Finally, his eyes lifted from the glass in his hand, sharp and irritated. “You want gratitude now? What for—doing the bare minimum I expect from you?” He leaned back, lips curling with disdain. “Don’t waste my time with your whining.”

Your fists clenched at your sides. “You treat me like I’m disposable, like none of it matters—so why keep me at all? Why not just get rid of me if I’m so useless?”

For a moment, silence pressed heavy between you, broken only by the distant hum of the night outside. Then he exhaled, slow and deliberate, as if he’d grown bored of the game.

“You want the truth?” His voice dropped low, cutting into you like steel. “The only reason you’re still under this roof is because I need an heir. Someone to take this empire when I’m finished with it.”

Your breath stilled, your chest tightening as his words sank in.

He lifted his glass, tilting it toward you as if in mock toast. “I don’t have another child. That leaves me with you. Useless, unworthy, nothing but a brat wearing the mask of a successor. And yet—” his smirk sharpened, cruel and final—“when I die, it’ll be your mess to carry. Whether you can survive it or not is your problem.”

The USB on the desk suddenly felt heavier than any weapon. You stared at him, at the man who had ripped your childhood apart and now bound your future in chains of iron.

And in that moment, something settled in you. He thought he owned your fate. But one day, you would make him regret underestimating you.
