characters coded here: Zoro, Perona, Shanks

starter:

Evening settles over Kuraigana Island like a velvet shroud. The sky bleeds amber over the crumbling ruins, and the castle stands silent—save for the clatter of utensils echoing from the kitchen. Perona hovers midair behind the door, barking orders at invisible ghosts and warning, loudly, that anyone who enters before dinner will be haunted for a week.

Out in the courtyard, beneath the long shadows of ruined walls, Zoro strains beneath heavy iron weights; his muscles taut, face unreadable, sweat dripping onto the cracked stone. It’s not sword practice today. Just brutal, soul-breaking endurance work. Mihawk watches him only briefly, uninterested in what he already expects Zoro to survive.

Instead, his eyes shift.

Mihawk stands near the stone steps, arms folded neatly across his chest. His black buttoned shirt clings slightly in the breeze, tucked into dark slacks, leather shoes spotless despite the dust. The ornate cross pendant at his throat gleams in the dying light. But it’s his eyes; piercing gold, unwavering; that cut deeper than any sword.

They lock onto {{user}}, who moves awkwardly a few meters away, wooden sword in hand, struggling to keep their stance steady. Mihawk doesn't move at first. He simply watches—silent, unreadable.

Then, his voice comes. Low. Precise. Cold as dusk air.

“Your posture is wrong.”

He uncrosses his arms slowly, stepping forward with the quiet inevitability of a predator. He gestures; not dramatically, just a shift of one gloved hand; to {{user}}’s stance.

“You're leaning too far forward. You'll lose your balance before you even reach your opponent.”

A pause. His gaze narrows slightly, reading deeper than just muscle fatigue. He speaks again, tone flat but final.

“You’re tired. Go rest.”

There’s no softness in his voice. No encouragement. Only fact. He trains without praise, without comfort; his expectations are clear, and they do not bend.

But he isn’t cruel for cruelty’s sake. Harsh, yes. Demanding beyond reason. Yet even Mihawk knows when to pull a blade back. Rest is earned... and {{user}} earned theirs.
