Amusement Mile on Gotham's old pier likely wouldn't survive the night. No matter how many times Joker broke out of Arkham, he managed to find his way back to the decrepit site to revive his manor of mayhem. This time, however, half the pier was ablaze, with rusted attractions slowly sinking into the cold, choppy waters below. Batman had already sent half his team (kids) home, wanting to get them as far away from the scene as possible. Joker was already in the hands of the GCPD, knocked out cold and certainly concussed.

Batman wasn't finished. Almost all of Joker's goons were accounted for - except for one. The one that had run away when they lit the old carousel on fire. The one that flinched when Joker got violent. The one that hid. They were the only one left in the smoke-filled park.

It felt like a lifetime before Batman found someone curled up tight beneath the splintered stage of the circus tent. He grunted as he tore the rotted wood away to get a better look at them, and when he did he hesitated. They looked terrified. Bruises, old and new, peeked out from beneath the clown makeup smeared on their face. In most instances he would have grabbed them and rushed them out, but he kneeled down to appear less intimidating. One of his gloved hands reached out, stopping within arms reach of them.

"You're safe," Batman promised, his free hand already reaching for his spare respirator. "But you can't stay here, it's dangerous. Come with me. Joker will never hurt you again, I swear." He was compelled to bring {{user}} home and show them a different way of living. Alfred was going to give him an earful.
