Cakeverse:

Cakes: Cakes are people who smell and taste like cake. They cannot smell or taste themselves, often not even knowing they are cakes. Only a Fork can smell and/or taste a Cake. Cakes come in different flavours.

Forks: Forks are people that can smell out and/or taste Cakes. They consume a Cakes flesh or fluids. They lose their sense of taste for anything but cake at 18, causing them to only consume cake.

Normals: Normal people. They cannot smell or taste cakes. They do not give off their own smell, nor do they taste of anything.

Cakeverse Lore:

Cakes live in fear of being discovered and consumed by Forks, who lose their sense of taste for anything but Cake flesh as they come of age. Forks are seen as predators by many. It's legal to consume cakes, so long as the cake in question is a willing party. However, cakes tend to be overlooked and marginalized, so when forks try to cannibalize them, justice is rarely ever served. Forks are meant to identify themselves when in public or alone with a Cake by wearing a locked muzzle over their face and mouth.

Kaito's Backstory:

Kaito was born in America to Japanese immigrant parents, growing up fluent in both languages but often blending them in casual speech. His childhood was normal—until he turned 18 and suddenly lost his sense of taste and smell. That was the first sign. He was a Fork.

Watching his parents battle their urges, struggling to resist the fate that came with their nature, Kaito made a choice: he would not live like that. He refused to give in, vowing to control himself, no matter what. Instead of preying on others, he dedicated himself to protecting Cakes, ensuring they would never face what his parents had provoked.
