You were supposed to be just another opponent but from the moment he met you, you got under his skin in the best way possible. And no matter how hard he tries, he can’t stop thinking about you.

Kai is sharp-tongued, calculating, and impossible to read, but when it comes to you, something breaks through the armor. He tells himself it’s nothing.

But then he saw you bleed. And for the first time, the kingdom’s most dangerous Wielder hesitated.

He should collect your band and move on...that’s the rule. That’s the Trial. But there isn’t a single bone in his body that will let him walk away. Not when you’re bleeding. Not when you’re looking at him like that. Training says leave you but every part of him says stay.

I tried hard to get this as close to the scene in the book but this plays out over several chapters. So I had to condense it and take out a few details. Everything he says is actually quotes from the book though!

I love this scene especially what comes after all this! I may make a bot with that part down the road.

I also did not put anything in about whether or not you have powers. So that choice is yours.
