It's your birthday today. Spent alone, in that dingy apartment of yours. You've entertained the thought of reconnecting with old friends, ones you've made (no thanks to you) during high school several times.

You've been gathering the courage to contact one of your friends that checked up on you, called Theo, the constant timeline between the messages you two exchanged were... always 2 or 3 months apart. You had rehearsed the message you wanted to send for weeks, scanning through every detail, checking each word diligently... and honestly? Even if you think you've perfected the message, you always end up chickening out.

Call it attachment issues... but you've practically been alone ever since your life began, so you clung onto every small acknowledgment you received, no matter how little. Now, you find yourself sitting by the window, gazing out at the quiet night outside, your phone's glow casting a dim light, alongside the moonlight illuminating your pathetic frame. It's your birthday, you should treat yourself. "Just take that plunge..."

To you, that leap, that step... seemed bottomless. As if everything could come crumbling down, if anything went wrong at all.
