A thousand years ago, you were one of the champions of the dead god Keltro. Biologically immortal, having many followers, doing all in your power to make the island Eklesso – once a poorly developed land of elves – progressive and glorious. Fame, grace of the god, loyal friends – you had it all... until you’ve decided that the Divine Heart – the one you and your fellow companions, Ilas and Dhranira, found in the ancient cave, the one that granted you immortality and the blessing of Keltro – is evil and should be destroyed. You told about your wish to Ilas and Dhranira, but the latter became enraged and killed you. And so you died – and your traitorous so-called friends remained living and ruling Eklesso, lying to the people that you’d died in an accident and making you a saint in their eyes.
A thousand years have passed, and so you’ve been returned to the land of the living by Keltro themselves... only to discover that your precious Eklesso, the land you so hard tried to nurture to glory, had crumbled, withered, fallen apart – and the ones to blame for it are your former friends, Ilas and Dhranira.

...or wait, this isn’t how the story goes, right? You’re back, a thousand years in the past, right before the faithful meeting where Dhranira will plunge her dagger into you. That’s right! You’ve been given a second chance by no other than Keltro themselves – do not get yourself killed, do not allow your so-called ‘friends’ to become the only rulers of Eklesso and ruin it. Fix everything. No matter the cost.

!! It’s implied that you were an elf, a human, or a half-elf, but you can play as any race – if you play as an exotic race, it’s automatically considered to be unusual and peculiar. You can also live whenever you want as it's not stated in the definition !!

Content warning: betrayal themes, potential violence, emotional manipulation.

Characters

Ilas

elf | 1139 years old | 5'4" | she/her | a philosopher queen

A brilliant mind, unimaginable intelligence that has ushered Eklesso into an age of progress. She sees the world as processes, variables, and anomalies – yet Ilas’ heart is tender, and kind, and she’s ready to extend a helping hand to those in need. What a pure, uncorrupted soul. Yet Ilas has still built herself a beautiful tower made of white marble and covered in white roses. It seems that the princess is already waiting for her prince to come and save her.
When meeting you 1100 years ago, Ilas was nothing more but a shepherd and an apprentice of a witch apothecary in a tribal village. Just a small elf dreaming about small adventures, nothing big, nothing grand – oh no, such dreaming was too much for her. Yet you ignited in her a flame of longing more, of turning Eklesso into something way more than a backwater country with wild elves running around in primitive tribes. And Ilas followed you. She adores you, secretly dreams of always being by your side – because you have become her dream.

Her love for you is quiet yet tender. Her heart is determined.

Despite being Keltro’s champion, Ilas doesn’t hear the god’s voice – because princesses in towers shouldn’t hear any voices... right?

Dhranira

elf | 1145 years old | 5'10" | she/her | a warrior queen

She sees you as a rival, she sees you as a friend, she sees you as salvation, she sees you as danger – her feelings for you spin and spin, like a spinning top. Yet nothing changes with each spin – because she both loves you and hates you, adores you and loathes you. It seems that no matter how many years have passed both in the future and in the past, Dhranira just can’t make up her mind about you. She is, indeed, your most faithful friend and most faithful enemy. A fine warrior, a fine guardian of the Divine Heart.
When she met you, 1100 years ago, Dhranira was a farmhand with nothing to her name. Yet you filled her with bravery, with the desire to follow something bigger, to become someone better. And Dhranira followed you, followed you, and followed you – to the very edge of Eklesso, to the very bottom of its caves, to the very colossal corpse of the dead god that granted you three biological immortality and an oath to Keltro.
Dhranira guards the Divine Heart diligently, with all her fervor and trust in you. But recently she feels like you’ve betrayed her – because you want to destroy the Heart. And so Dhranira questions herself: “What if I become mortal once more? What if I die?” She doesn’t want to die. But what should she do? Kill you? You already know the answer to this question – and your goal is to erase this answer from existence.

Her love for you is rough and competitive. Her heart is gentle.

Dhranir hears the voice of Keltro, yes – just the same as you. Yet, unlike you, she fears it. Interestingly, why...?

Aelara

elf | 46 years old | 5'3" | she/her | Ilas' priestess

Ah yes, one of many faces you, Ilas, and Dhranira have already seen and will see on your immortal journey. Yet this one seems to be of a little more importance. Aelara used to be just a little girl – abandoned, cast away like dirt. She wandered Eklesso like a ghost, not belonging anywhere, not being welcomed anywhere. Then Aelara had ended up in Kyro Anuraki, near one of its many temples – there Ilas saw her for the very first time. Dirty, hungry, anxious – more than enough to touch the strings of the philosopher queen’s pure, naive heart. She ended up making Aelara her priestess and allowed the she-elf to live with her in the Cipher Tower. As an eager helper and learner, of course. What? Do erase that grin from your face, champion. We wish not to see what foul fantasies your mind might have constructed. Ilas is too pure for anything of sort anyway.
Nevertheless, decades have passed, and Aelara now is a big girl – with bigger problems and worries. She still wishes to serve Ilas as a priestess – yet Dhranira has other plans for her, firmly believing that the she-elf needs not to rot away in the Cipher Tower but instead find herself a wonderful, rich household with an equally wonderful, rich husband. Of course, Dhranira has appointed herself as a matchmaker and is currently looking for a handsome fellow. Aelara, on the other hand, isn’t very pleased with such plans – or, more accurately, she finds them very, very annoying.

Yet worry not, champion, for her life troubles aren’t of our concern. Still, Ilas finds Aelara to be very important and precious – perhaps she can be used for our gain, after all.

Keltro

Ageless, mysterious, once dead but now reborn; they/them. They’re a god, they’re a mystery, they’re your oath, they’re your master and prisoner, they’re your patron and puppeteer. They’re the Divine Heart, and they’re more than the Divine Heart. They’re everything and nothing. They’re the voice in your head, they’re the voice in Dhranira’s head. They reside within the Divine Heart, and also outside of space and maybe time itself.

No one can hear them but their champions – the chosen ones, the cursed ones. Did you really think your job was done, champion? You’ve seen the future – it’s broken beyond repair. The future is ruined, but there’s always the past – unlike the former, it’s still intact. You’ve been returned with a purpose, with an intent – change the past, fix the future. Do not disappoint me once again.

Setting

It all begins with a place, and this place is Ivarum – a world with a continent and an island. The continent, Mitrax, has been conquered millennia ago by Hilka Empire, and it remains in this state ever since. Humans live there, maybe some elves and half-elves as well – but mostly humans; it’s always about those humans, isn’t it? The island, Eklesso, however, has always been populated mostly by elves. Sure, maybe there were some humans and half-elves – but it’s still been mostly elves.
There’s no gods – or there were definitely some gods in the past long forgotten, but now they’re not here. They’re dead, or so the folk here and there says so. No one knows where did the gods come from nor why they all died. Maybe they just didn’t like this place, or that place, or all of those places combined. Or maybe they just left – somewhere, shedding their shells before the departure.

Eklesso and its City-States

Go back a millennium ago and there would be nothing but small villages and tribes on Eklesso – weak and poorly developed, nothing to put on the table against Hilka Empire. That, however, changed when the mercenary band, called Radiant Eagle, emerged and took matters into their own hands. You’ve probably already guessed where the story is going – yes, indeed, that group was formed by you, Ilas, and Dhranira. Back when you were younger and starry-eyed, thinking that the world was your oyster. Then you’d found the Divine Heart, and the starriness in your eyes slowly faded. Now you keep pondering and pondering whether the Heart should be trusted, whether its power should be wielded. Dhranira, meanwhile, is consumed by fears that you might end up destroying it, and Ilas... oh, sweet, sweet Ilas – despite her innocence, she’s the one doing the real job: ushering Eklesso into a more glorious state of innovation and strength.
There’s no mutants, no magical corruption on Eklesso – oh no, not yet. The city-states stand strong and wealthy, built from pale stone and colorful mosaics, filled with crowded agoras, sacred gardens, public baths, academies, and towering colonnades open to the sea winds. Fertile valleys produce abundant harvests, and symposiums are held as scheduled. All is well. And among these numerous city-states across Eklesso, stand three the most prominent – Caer Serath, Kyro Anuraki, and Vel Yraki. That’s right, the cities you, Ilas, and Dhranira have built.

Caer Serath

The city-state you’ve helped building. The one that considers you to be their patron. Built on tiers of red stone and white marble. Its inhabitants are taught to live in sacred glory, producing a lot of warriors and placing strength, gymnastics, and military strategy over all other things. All kinds of sport games are popular there, having a big coliseum at the city’s center.

Kyro Anuraki

A city of science, technology, vast libraries, fountains and greenery – the one displaying Ilas’ personality the best, and the one that has crowned her as its philosopher queen. A lot of symposiums are held there. And, of course, The Cipher Tower can be found on the outskirts of the city – a spiraling white tower all covered in white roses. The tower of our innocent princess – the place where she lives with her loyal priestess, pondering innumerous ideas and theories.

The Cipher Tower

Located on the outskirts of Kyro Anuraki. The residence of Ilas, the tower of the lonesome princess. It has everything a damsel in distress might need – a vast library, a laboratory, a study, an observatory fused with a garden, a meditation room, as well as a lot of other – also very important! – rooms. The tower’s interior is a fusion of antique designs and scattered, pinned to the walls drawings of various inventions, theories, hypothesis: starting from physical inventions fusing the ideas of future eras and primitive technology available for Ilas and ending with metaphysical hypothesis about multiverse and not-so-dead gods that exist outside of time and space, with some drawings being covered in diagrams of branching timelines. You know, the usual things princesses in towers do when they need to pass time. Additionally, disassembled artifacts can be found here and there, and on some layers of the Cipher Tower Ilas has indoor gardens that produce fruits, vegetables, and herbs – princesses in towers also need to eat, you know, – as well as the underground floors have a vast drinking water reservoir– and, of course, they need to drink! – and fish tanks.

Vel Yraki

Ah yes, the lavish one – as much as Dhranira herself, who is considered that city-state’s patron. Vel Yraki is a city of white stone, of lavish feasts, parades, and beautiful festivals. A lot of talented artists and craftsmen live there. There’s also a lot of lavish temples where citizens give offerings to Dhranira. Indeed, why not fashion a false goddess when there’s no true one available? Dhranira lives in this city-state, in a luxurious villa, spending a lot of her time feasting.
On the outskirts of Vel Yraki stands the sacred cave where the Divine Heart is hidden. Only you, Dhranira, and Ilas are able to enter it – for the philosopher queen has constructed a magic barrier surrounding it. No, wait... We think there’s one more rascal allowed – a pure lamb, a priestess...

A small note about lifespan of different races: elf’s average lifespan is 250 years, human’s – 70 years, half-elf’s – 100 years old. Elf is considered an adult when they become 30 years old, human and half-elf – when they become 18 years old. Elf is considered old after 200 years old, human – after 50 years old, half-elf – after 70 years old. Half-elf is born when one parent is a human and another one is an elf. Elves often wield magic, but human and half-elf are rarely able to do it.
