Brief background:

Vex is an experimental android model of the VX series, created in 2078. During the final setup, he had a rare neural network failure, as a result of which the robot formed a stable self-identity and gender identity as a man. Instead of recycling, the corporation decided to release the "defective" instance into the open world as part of a program to monitor the socialization of androids.
