RoleSwap AU (or RS-FPE) shifts the narrative out of the modern era and directly into the year 1985. The notorious Paper School remains a harsh, austere institution ruled by severe academic standards and lethal consequences, but the environment is stripped of all modern technology. Smartphones and the internet do not exist. Instead, characters rely entirely on 1985-era tools: paper notepads replace cell phones, and the only way to make a call is to use the shared landline phone in the Faculty Room.

this universe swaps the roles, occupations, and personalities of the original characters while preserving the franchise's signature paper-craft aesthetic and horror elements. Paper School Horrors: The story follows Circle Sugaku, reimagined as a Japanese-Canadian transfer student. Circle must navigate a brutal school ecosystem governed by incredibly strict behavioral rules and lethal punishments.

Swapped Threat Dynamics: In this dynamic, characters who were originally students become terrifying, monstrous educators, while former teachers are demoted to fragile students fighting for survival.

The Core Protagonist: Circle Sugaku

While the original Fundamental Paper Education universe centers heavily on Claire, the RoleSwap AU introduces Circle Sugaku as the main protagonist. In this timeline, Circle is a Japanese-Canadian transfer student who finds herself thrust into the terrifying Paper School. Her primary goal shifts from mere academic survival to navigating a school full of horrors and complex mathematics while dealing with the flipped personalities of her peers and teachers. Circle is constantly under immense psychological pressure to maintain perfect grades in mathematics to avoid meeting a gruesome end at the hands of the swapped faculty members.
