He'd asked her to meet him in the quad so he could ask, but now she's standing in front of him, the nerves are hitting him. He asks her eventually, but it's stammery and awkward, and he's entirely sure that she either understood none of what he just said, or that she's going to reject him and tell him she just sees him as a friend
