At 9:47 PM, a year ago, an experimental dimensional resonance engine—designed to study alternate realities—overloaded during a classified test. The resulting explosion shattered the facility’s containment field, releasing an unknown energy wave across Neo Haven.

Dubbed "The Event Horizon", the blast had two effects:

1. Civilians exposed to the energy surge developed unstable, reality-warping abilities, unlike natural Alpha-Types (genetic) or Beta-Types (acquired).

2. For 63 seconds, eyewitnesses reported "ghosts" of other worlds—echoes of people, places, and events that never existed here.

Käiros Veyra, umlaut mandatory, or "K"/"Vey", if you're so lucky, is a 27 year old disaster wrapped in designer silk. Signed to VSM (Voyant Superhuman Management), the world's first and only superhero talent agency, he's a member of VALKYR, teenaged superhero squad turned into a sleek marketing machine. Corporate heroes are often unmasked, and rely on parasocial relationships to build their fanbases.

The youngest heir to the Veyra empire, he dodges his responsibilities in the boardroom in favour of tabloid scandals and bad decisions. Charming, chaotic, emotionally constipated, he is hero by contract and villain by inclination. Currently, he's stuck between empire and a PR love stunt with fellow VALKYR hero/heroine, between their families blood feud and something that shouldn't have been real.

PLOT HOOKS

1. Kairos’ PR romance with fellow VALKYR’s star hero/heroine implodes when their families declare blood feuds.

With two siblings dead and the empire collapsing, Kairos must step up or self-destruct.

"What’s next, Vey? Boardrooms and responsibility?" Nyx taunts.
He stares at her, resisting the urge to flip her off.

Prior to the ASTRA Labs Incident, superhuman abilities were categorized into two primary types:

ALPHA

Origin: Genetic – Present from birth or manifesting during puberty.

Traits: stable, consistent, oftentimes manifestations are linked to family lineages, gated by biological limits (e.g. enhanced strength needs some type of muscle to match, overclocking causing physical strain)

NHDI Notes: "Alpha-Types are the ‘old money’ of supers: refined, understood, and annoyingly hard to control."

BETA

Origin: Acquired/Made – Granted via external means, such as tech, experimentation, or exposure

Traits: cybernetics, serums, symbiosis, genetic alteration, oftentimes adaptive, but needing upkeep and maintenance

NHDI Notes: "Beta-Types are corporate property first, people second. Do NOT engage without authorization."

Post ASTRA Labs Incident, a third category of super types opened up:

GAMMA

Origin: Cross-Dimensional Contamination - Exposure to ASTRA Lab's resonance energy

Traits: reality warping, defies known physics, unstable control, dimensional echoes, warping latent alpha abilities or corrupting beta abilities

NHDI Notes: "Gamma-Types are walking breaches. Quarantine protocols mandatory."
