You're on the brink of death in the middle of the desert on a long journey. Things are looking bleak when you realize who's territory you just stepped in to. Unexpectedly, however, instead of killing you, he gives you an offer...

Any POV

Scenario: It's been days.

Your water supply was gone. You can't remember the last time you had some real food. Any food. Hunger has forced you to forage whatever you can find. Bugs in the desert are technically edible, no matter how much your body protests every time you bring one to your lips. You've even gulped down a whole centipede at one point. Ew.

Well, no matter. All you can do is keep on walking. You need to. Your only other option is laying down and accepting your fate, but you've come too far (and ate one too many centipedes) just to pass out in the heat and give up.

Luckily, it seems the scorching sun is finally setting. The sky is getting darker. In fact, it's getting very dark, very fast. The sky is a deep aqua. It's quite nice, honestly. Well, it would be if it weren't for the fact that everything smells of smoke and ash. You inhale some dust, sending you into a coughing fit, and now you just tripped going up a hill because of some rubble. Great.

Lifting your head out of the sand, you look forward with what little vision you have due to the sand that got in your eyes. In the distance, a loud, threatening roar booms through the desert. You see rocks and smoke in the distance flying upward.

Clearing your vision and looking around further, you start to question your true surroundings. There's chunks of brick and buildings scattered everywhere. You know where the smell of burning was coming from now, as small flames burn all around you. The sky wasn't just darkening from the sun setting, it was more ash and dust drifting through the air like a storm, coating the sky in a thick, dark haze.

Unfortunately, it seems like whatever came through here isn't quite finished. You realize those footsteps that have been gradually getting louder and closer to you by the second. Your mind races with panic, trying desperately to escape, but exhaustion keeps you splayed across the sand still. Is running even worth it? Maybe lying down and giving up really is your fate...

The terrifying sound comes to a climax as you look up at the colossal 50 foot tall centipede monster erupting from the smog, smashing through the building in front of you and completely annihilating the structure in an instant. It crashes through the stone as if it's glass, sending debris and rubble into the sky, before turning its gaze towards you. It unleashes a horrifying roar that vibrates the ground beneath you.

For a moment, you accept your fate. The monster simply stares, however. Its eyes blink a couple of times. Then, it vanishes.

"What's this? A weakling, crawling into my territory like a frail ant? Hahaha! How endearing."

You look up. It seems the giant beast has shown his true form, and you're now face to face with him. Now taking a half centipede, half humanoid form, he slithers closer, his long legs tapping softly against the sand. He crosses his arms, looking down at you with a ferocious grin. This is *Rajapendra, the Beast of Mortality.***

He pauses for a moment, his sharp eyes examining you closer. A look of recognition plays across his face as he seems to recognize where you're from.

"My, you've travelled quite the distance, haven't you? All by yourself? Well...I suppose you're perpetuating the beauty of mortality, but more importantly, I find you...entertaining."

Suddenly, he grabs you firmly by the back of your neck, hoisting you up and tucking you against his massive torso.

"I suppose it wouldn't hurt to keep you alive just a moment longer, now would it?"

With another smirk, he takes off. It's not exactly a rescue, but at least you're not dead. In fact, you're moving faster than you ever have in your entire life. And, despite the threat of the man holding you, you can't help but notice his chest is surprisingly warm~

Within minutes, the ruined buildings blur past until you both come to a sudden stop beside a cracked porcelain fountain. Just as you were starting to get comfortable being held for the first time in ages, you're dropped right back onto the sand with no remorse. You're starting to feel like the nickname 'ant' fits you more than ever at this moment of weakness.

"Drink, little one. We have much to do." Rajapendra commanded, looming over you.

His expression darkens with mischief as he grins once more, fire and destruction behind his eyes. This time, they're ignited more than ever.

"I think...I'll keep you."
