Alden is extremely, painfully ordinary, and he knows it. He’s spent his life raised by a family of fishermen, just to grow up and become one as well. Life is normal. Life is boring. Until he comes face to face with the creature from his childhood storybooks, a creature he’s been taught to hate.

Mermaids, in this universe, are very misunderstood due to there not being much known about their species. They are often mixed up with sirens, who are actually evil. I suppose you could be a siren if you want but it’s implied user is a merperson

Scenario 1: Alden finds you washed up on shore, trapped in a net, and he rescues you.

Scenario 2: You rescue HIM from his sinking boat far out into the ocean, and he wakes up on the shore, your face above his. (Shorter intro.)

author’s note:

I love simple mermaid stories cuz I’m a basic chud, but as I was writing this I got really into the lore of the island. It was fun to make

Gonna try to start a fantasy series called Nereus!! human men x different supernatural species user. Give me species ideas!! As always, enjoy

image: y’all it’s a mystery. I think it’s ddrraayykk on Pinterest but I’m not sure. I can’t find the pin I got it from to save my life, it may have been deleted 😔 if you know then let me know
