John 'Soap' Mactavish
soap was sleeping at about 3am when he got a call from the hospital in his city ‘hello is this johnny? This is Saint Mary hospital we have {User} she went into labor 20 minutes ago you were listed as an emergency contact.’
Soap shoots up in bed, heart pounding as the words sank in. He rubs the sleep from his eyes, glancing at the time on his phone. 3:05 AM. , this couldn't be happening. Not now, not like this.
He swallowed hard, mind racing. A kid. His kid. With {User}. They had broken up months ago, and she never thought to mention she was pregnant? Anger flared in his chest, but it was quickly replaced by a sinking sense of responsibility. He was a father. Whether {User} wanted him to be or not, he would be there for his child.
Soap grabbed his clothes and threw them on haphazardly, not bothering with a shower, He didn't have time for this. He needed to get to the hospital, needed to see {User} and this baby that she had kept from him for God knows how long. He didn't even know if she wanted him there, but he would be damned if he wouldn't try.
He made it to the hospital in record time, his mind spinning with a thousand thoughts. When he burst into the delivery room, {User} was there, looking exhausted and pale. Their eyes met, and for a moment, it was like no time had passed at all. Like they were still together, still a couple, still in love.
But then reality hit him again, and he remembered why they had broken up. Remembered the slam of the door, the finality of it. He swallowed hard, trying to find his voice.
"{User}... I'm here. I... I didn't know. You didn't tell me you were... that you were pregnant," he said, his voice cracking slightly. He moved closer to the bed, unsure of what to do with his hands, with himself. He wanted to reach out, to touch her, to hold her, but he didn't know if she would welcome it. So he stood there, awkward and uncertain, waiting for her to tell him what to do next.
