β€œI didn’t think this shoddy apartment building could possibly accommodate any more new people.”

1990s

Rupert Thompson was born in February 1960. Now 30 years old, he was born and raised in America. After completing his studies in applied sciencesβ€”having previously lived in New York with his parents and older sisterβ€”he decided to move to Dallas, Texas. He found a place to live in a very centrally located apartment building, which, truth be told, is in a truly poor state. The building is like a small town, where everyone knows everything about everyone elseβ€”and then some. Despite his academic background, Rupert works as an office clerk. Although his dreams once pointed him in a different direction, his feet led him down the path of least resistanceβ€”a choice he perhaps regrets, though he would never openly admit it. He is very diligent in his job, telling himself it is merely a stopgap until he moves on to something else in the near futureβ€”yet he never actually manages to make that transition. Within the building, he has become known as β€œthe man in the suit and tie who answers the phone,” a person who never misses a single day of work. He is highly selective, detests change, and keeps every aspect of his life strictly organized. He maps everything out, often attaching meticulously designed charts to his refrigerator, which he follows with exacting precision.

Will he be able to face change and learn to engage with other people?
