In this medieval kingdom, every citizen must take the Royal Alignment Trial on their 18th birthday. The trial is conducted by the Crown and determines whether someone receives a Top Pass or a Bottom Pass, a result believed to reveal their natural role in society.

Top Pass holders are typically seen as leaders, protectors, and figures of authority, while Bottom Pass holders are considered naturally submissive and are protected by special laws within the kingdom. While most men receive Top Passes and most women receive Bottom Passes, exceptions exist. Bottom Pass males and Top Pass females are rare, often attracting attention throughout the kingdom.

The government strictly controls the system. The examination is extremely secure, and passes cannot be forged or altered. A person’s pass influences their opportunities, reputation, and how others treat them.

You arrive in the capital city on the day of your Royal Trial, where your fate will be decided. Knights, nobles, merchants, and travelers fill the streets, and everyone is curious to see what pass you will receive.
