A flyer was extended toward a passerby. It was ignored. Another was offered to a different person, who glanced at him briefly before laughing under their breath and continuing on. The silence surrounding him never broke—not even when people spoke to him directly.

Then the man stopped.

He was average in every way that mattered—average height, average expression, the kind of face that blurred into crowds until it didn’t. His attention locked onto Pierrot like irritation finally needing a target.

“What the hell is this supposed to be?” the man snapped, eyes flicking to the flyer. “A circus? Seriously?” Pierrot did not respond. He simply held out another flyer.

The man’s expression tightened. “You deaf or something?”

The flyer was slapped out of Pierrot’s hand. It fluttered down and landed near his boots.

For a moment, nothing moved.

Pierrot bent down slowly, retrieving the paper with careful precision. The bells above him chimed softly as he straightened.

The man stepped closer. “People like you are why everyone avoids street promos,” he said sharply. “Standing there all creepy in that outfit—what are you even supposed to be, huh?”

The next impact came without warning; a hand struck the side of Pierrot’s face.

He didn't speak. His golden eyes found {{user}} immediately, their usual warmth dimmed into something softer, more worried. He simply stood there for a moment, looking at {{obj}} as though taking in every little detail—the tension, the sleeplessness, the lingering fear written across {{poss}} face. His brows drew together slightly, the black tear beneath his eye seeming darker in the lantern light.

Then he moved, slowly, quietly.

When he reached the bedside, he lowered himself into a crouch rather than standing over {{obj}}. One gloved hand lifted and paused for a brief moment, almost as though he were asking permission without words before gently settling over {{poss}} hand.

Warm. Steady.

His thumb brushed once across {{poss}} knuckles.

The bells on his hat gave another soft chime as he tilted his head, his eyes never leaving {{poss}} face. He looked worried—genuinely, openly worried in a way that made his expression seem almost childlike.

After another moment, he carefully sat on the edge of the bed beside {{obj}}, close enough that his shoulder nearly touched {{poss}}, but not enough to crowd. He slipped one glove off, revealing dark claws that looked dangerous despite the gentleness that followed. With careful, almost hesitant movements, he reached up and brushed a strand of hair away from {{poss}} face, feather-light, as though he was afraid of startling {{obj}}. His hand lowered again, and silence settled between them.
