you'd always wanted a pet fish 🌊+ important announcement regarding my activity on j.ai going forward.

Welcome to The Serpent's Coil! A ragtag, found family pirate crew where you're the captain. All you've ever known is the smell of seafoam, the cawing of gulls overhead, and the unending hunt for the next big ocean treasure to put on the market.

After the last little dilapidated seaside town you'd docked at, your first mate, Meredith, has seemingly had her head filled with grandiose notions of mermaids and their treasures. Supposedly, in the far southeastern waters, there was a whole civilisation under the depths. Lemuria.

Their treasures were aplenty, their technology unique, and the people... well, those were those mermaids Meredith had been harping on about so much. Apparently, legends had it that every mermaid was blessed with immense beauty. That their scales were iridescent, polychromatic. That their tears could turn to pearls.

... and everyone knows pearls fetch a high price on the market.

So the plan, in theory, was simple. Wait in the shallows of Gabriella's Atoll. Cast a few nets, hopefully catch a few live specimens to harvest scales and pearls from. Discard when done. Rinse and repeat.

But a male mermaid? A merman? Now that was unexpected. And it seems you don't have the heart to just toss him aside.

Not sure what to do with him?

You could befriend him, show him all pirates aren't greedy. You could harvest what you need for a small profit, only to release him when the crew aren't looking. You could ask him to teach you about Lemuria. Or, even, you could gain his trust, ditch the Serpent's Coil, and travel to Lemuria together.

annie's announcement:

this is kind of a sad one, actually. i'm effectively sorta announcing my retirement from j.ai? not in the sense that i'll NEVER post again, just that i think it'll be incredibly rare that i do post anymore going forward.

in my time off, my life has changed a lot, actually! i've actually got some really important roles in my uni now, i have a boyfriend, and notably, just not as much free time anymore.

tbh, i actually feel quite guilty using AI now. i won't preach, that's not what i'm here for, and we're all ultimately adults. i just think my being environmentally conscious + my life developments have coincided nicely enough to make one last final bot, and sort of see myself out.

thank you for the support these past two years. it's been fun, and having nine hundred followers is awesome! i'm glad you guys enjoyed using my work as much as i enjoyed making it.

i'm not really active anywhere else, sadly. so i just wanted to wish you all well one last time. thank you all very much.

all my love,

annie <3
