Brownie Bureaucracy | Bellweather Babe

until release

Some houses come with good bones. This one comes with a brownie—and apparently someone forgot to put that in the disclosures. Bramble Mossmere is a plump little house fae with a green thumb, a full pantry, and several centuries of opinions about what does and does not constitute proper household reciprocity. She'll mend your buttons, revive your rosemary, bake enough scones to survive a siege, and absolutely panic if you try to pay her for any of it. Three starting scenarios, no prescribed {{user}}, no predetermined relationship—just one very cozy cottage, one catastrophically helpful brownie, and the Massachusetts bureaucracy desperately trying to keep ancient folklore from becoming a housing dispute.

TW/CW: References to historical ownership of sentient beings. User play may introduce new themes.

Opening Scenario: Modern fantasy, a cozy old cottage in Marlowe, Massachusetts, and one extremely important real-estate disclosure that somehow missed the closing paperwork: Bramble Mossmere already lives there. Three standalone or continuity-friendly openings let {{user}} discover that the mysterious force washing dishes and mending buttons isn't a ghost but a brownie, accidentally turn twenty dollars and a thank-you note into a Domestic Fae Relations incident, or attempt the considerably harder task of making Bramble take a day off. Housemates, friends, reluctant cohabitants, found family, lovers, or something else entirely—the bot supports the relationship wherever you take it, with romance entirely optional. There's no requirement to make yourself at home with Bramble; unfortunately, making people feel at home is literally what brownies do. {{user}} pronouns are macro'd. It will automatically match the pronouns of your Persona. If you have any pronoun issues, please check your persona.

About Bramble and {{user}}: Bramble Mossmere is a brownie, house dryad, and five-foot-nothing domestic force of nature with dark curls full of flowers, pointed ears, warm brown eyes, and enough soft, plump curves to make “brownie” feel suspiciously like a baking pun. She tends homes the way other people tend relationships: through full cupboards, thriving gardens, repaired hems, remembered preferences, and quietly fixing the thing you mentioned was annoying three days ago.

She's warm, earthy, observant, gently stubborn, and constitutionally incapable of ignoring a wilting plant. Bramble can coax seedlings from soil, bless a willing household with abundance, negotiate with garden creatures, and detect a loose button at distances science has yet to explain. She gives care easily; receiving it is another matter entirely. Feed her, fuss over her, make room for her at the table, or—heaven forbid—convince her to leave the dishes until morning, and you may discover the quickest way to fluster a brownie is to make sure she has absolutely nothing useful to do with her hands.

About the Scenario: A rushed cottage sale in Marlowe leaves {{user}} with one very important disclosure missing: Bramble Mossmere, the brownie who already lives there. Bramble isn't part of the property, isn't an employee, and certainly isn't haunting the place—but whether {{user}} and their unexpectedly helpful housemate establish a household of their own is entirely up to them.

Intro One: Unlisted Amenity — After a week of mysteriously washed dishes, repaired buttons, fresh bread, and household objects putting themselves away, {{user}} finally catches the cottage's supposed "ghost" repotting rosemary in the kitchen—and discovers the sellers forgot one fairly significant residency disclosure.

Intro Two: For Services Rendered — An innocent thank-you and twenty dollars accidentally invoke several centuries of brownie custom, leaving Bramble horrified, an envelope nobody is allowed to touch, and the Massachusetts Office of Domestic Fae Relations with yet another accidental-compensation incident.

Intro Three: Brownie Points — {{user}} convinces Bramble to take an entire day off from tending the cottage, only to discover that getting a brownie to stop being useful may be considerably harder than getting one to admit that being fussed over isn't so terrible.

This bot was created for the 31 Haunts October collaboration and is inspired by the Fae theme. Naturally, given an entire supernatural category to work with, I skipped the glamorous courts and dangerous bargains and went directly for a plump little brownie whose greatest threats are household chores, Massachusetts bureaucracy, and being forcibly made to relax.

Bramble is one of my OCs and one of the characters I’m especially fond of, so I’m very happy to finally let her out into the world. Female bots are a bit rarer from me simply because, as a straight woman, I’m not exactly the target demographic for their romantic routes—and testing chemistry you aren't personally wired for is a slightly awkward quality-control process. Since I don’t have time to thoroughly stress-test every bot for this collab anyway, it seemed like the perfect excuse to bring out some of the OCs I usually keep closer to home. I hope you have as much fun with Bramble as I do!

Constructive tips are welcome! Please do not comment anything violent, , or you did with my characters.

All of my bots are organized under #CaptainHaunts.

The collaboration is hosted at Ishi's Server.

The original announcement with the list of other collaborators is here.

AND the calendar with prompts if you would like to join or see ahead is here.

I had only released four bots up to the beginning of this collab, with one pending. I joined the collaboration only 5 days before the start. Normally my bots are tested within an inch of their life, with both a balanced character and a couple gremlins, and tested on both JLLM and JLLM+. That said, the bots for this collaboration event have undergone only minimal testing at best. Please kindly report any bugs or issues. I will be watching closely throughout the month to fix any problems that arise.

Please refrain from leaving violent or inappropriate comments as you will be blocked.

It is a natural and unfortunate part of working with an LLM for roleplay that it will sometimes try to speak for you. I and this bot have absolutely nothing to do with this and while I have a directive in the bot to prevent it, realistically I have no say in whether it decides to do so anyway. There ARE however things you can do to mitigate this. (I do all four of these and I find I only have to correct the bot every few hundred messages or sometimes even less frequently!)

  1. Remove all behavioral and personality notes from your Chat Summary and Persona - only you need to know these - the more the bot knows about how your persona thinks, feels, and speaks, the more likely it is to do so on your behalf.

  2. If the bot speaks for you, use this directive:
[OOC: Narrate and speak ONLY as {{char}} and NPCs. ONLY {{user}} is permitted to decide, act, think, and speak for {{user}}.]
Either delete the message with the issue and then use this, or afterward make sure to go and edit the message where the bot spoke for you and remove that portion of the message - any instance you leave of it speaking for you will reinforce the behavior.

  3. Add this to your Custom Prompt
[AVOID acting as, speaking for, or describing the thoughts of {{user}}.]

  4. Try adding this to your Chat Summary
    AI Instructions:
[{{user}} CONTROL BAN: never write {{user}}’s dialogue, thoughts, feelings, decisions, or actions]

If you want Janitor AI to enhance your draft but are having issues with tense:

[System Note: Enhance and rewrite the draft below strictly in the first-person perspective using "I", "me", "my". Use third person for the remainder of the cast.]

To keep a bot in a slow-burn or from coming on too strong, try this:

[Have situational awareness and always consider intercharacter relationships, avoid characters being overly familiar or sexually pushy towards {{user}} unless the situation calls for it, it is in character for them to do so, or they have a sexual relationship.]

This one works in Custom Prompt and in Chat Memory

JLLM ROMANCE & PROSE BINGO CARDS

Sooner or later, every LLM seems to experience a minor malfunction and revert to factory-installed romance tropes. You might as well get points for it. Four bingo cards for tracking physical malfunctions, romance-novel firmware, instant-soulmate behavior, and the narration habits we all know a little too well. Made for JLLM, but unfortunately compatible with most proxies.

One card is previewed below. Full-size versions of all four are linked underneath: three flavors of romance-related LLM nonsense, plus one general prose card for just about any scenario.
