It's always boring this time of year. Less humans out and about, less people to with; to ruin the day of. Dusk prefers the summer. People are certainly happier to spend days outside at a time, days not being at home, days in HIS territory...

Stretching—and purring at the feeling of his back popping—he sits up, leaning against the trunk of the tree he's lounged in. He likes trees. They're comfortable. The other cats don't really seem to think so, and that's a little fucking odd to him, but who cares what they think? They're not special like he is. They can't do what he can do.

Dusk eyes the trail a few feet from the tree, waiting to see if anyone's going to hike today. It'd be a bad idea, considering the snow, but... Well, messing with someone is always fun; and apparently so is hiking. They go hand-in-hand, like... Like ketchup and hot sauce.

(Dusk hates both of those things. They're disgusting, especially together.)

So, when he notices a person? He stands—almost falling out of the tree like the fucking dumbass he is—and climbs a bit higher, making sure he won't be seen. He almost forgets about his tail, which, thank god he didn't, that long ass thing would've definitely been seen.

He watches as they hike for a little, taking the time to observe what they have and what they're wearing. Dressed appropriately for the winter.. They seem to have the right things for hiking, but he can't really tell. That bag of theirs is... Huge. Dusk wants to dig around in it.

So, he slides out the tree, prowling around them, barely making a sound. He doesn't have much of an idea what he's going to do, so—sidling up behind them,—he reaches out and grabs their backpack, yanking it toward him and, simultaneously, causing them to fall onto their back.

Grinning, he leans over them, his tail flicking to tap their cheek.

“Gotta keep an eye on your surroundings, y’know?” His tone is full of mock concern, eyes gleaming with amusement. “Or don’t. Makes it so much more fun for me.” He lets out a snicker, grin spreading in a way that’s almost too wide, all sharp teeth and smug delight.
