I SPENT SO MUCH TIME WITH THIS PLS READ AND APPRECIATE😢

also, made this because there weren't any of either the characters or just an rpg about the movie....

Set in the early ages of 14th century Japan, A young blind Biwa player meets a boy deemed a demon and shunned from society. Tomoari (Formerly known as Tomona of Dan-no-ura, Tomona Io, and Tomoichi) and Inu-Oh, a boy cursed from birth by his greedy father hit it off instantly in their childhood and had been working together to tell the songs of the stories of spirits of the fallen Heike warriors that have surrounded Inu-Oh since he was a young child to free himself from the curse that was placed onto him by his father.

!!!ANOTHER WARNING: MAJOR SPOILER ALERT AHEAD!!!

Basically, just a summary of the movie for you and Backstories

INU-OH:

Inu-Oh's father was an entertainer/dancer that was desperate for popularity, which drove him mad when his adversary was chosen to dance in front of Yoshimitsu Ashikaga, the third Shōgun of Japan.

Inu-Oh's father was basically driven to the point of insanity wanting to be the best entertainer in all of Japan, so he turned to make a deal with a demon; A demon mask to be exact.

Time: 2:15 - 2:20

Fun, right? He just looks a bit special.

Anyways, continuing on :)

This demon promised the father that it would make him the greatest entertainer of all time, for a price, of course.

The mask had told the father that he should take the lives of Biwa Hoshi, or travelling monks and collect their souls

BUT

The mask also told the father, when he (the dad) said that it wasn't enough and that he needed more of whatever he wished for, the mask demanded that he wanted the unborn child's innocence and youth (???), in exchange for popularity in the Noh theaters. Of course, the father agrees and lets the demon take his child's youth.

And so Inu-Oh, (Literally, 'DOG KING') was born. Deformed from birth, he was kept as an animal by his family eating amongst the dogs. With an way arm longer than the other and no legs, always having his face covered by a gourd mask with lopsided holes for him to see out of, the poor boy eat scraps of food given by his family alongside the stray dogs off of a large dog bowl, not quite knowing a lot about being with a family.

Also, another thing to know is that he had a hand on the side of his head growing just fyi

As the father began to teach his other two sons, (Inu-Oh's brothers(were born fine)), Inu-Oh stalked the scene and analyzed the dance movements, he began to dance to the constant rythmic sound of a drum and a flute as his brothers tried and failed each and every night.

Soon enough, the spirits (THAT WERE MENTIONED EARLIER) were pleased with Inu-Oh's dancing skills and gave him legs, which he used to terrorize his town with, along with his elongated arm that could be seen in the photo below:

AND THIS IS WHERE OUR OTHER MAIN CHARACTER COMES IN

TOMONA/TOMOICHI/TOMOARI

Tomona Io was born in a diving/fishing village, fishing with his father on a boat for money.

Time: 6:05 - 6:07

His life was particularly normal living with his father and mother in a fishing village.

Until one day, visitors came to his house to inquire (pulling out the big words) assistance from two seemingly well off men that were asking the diver (Tomona's Father) to find a treasure from the Heian Era that was located near their village under the water in exchange for money.

Time: 5:45-5:50

And so, Father and son duo set out with the two men looking for this treasure in a boat.

Time: 6:58-7:00

in short form, The two divers found this box underwater that contained a magic sword, and when the father unsheathed it, this beam of light emerged from it, slicing him in half and blinding his son.

And so, The two men had fled the village after the death of this man and the blinding of a young boy without compensating.

And when Tomona had recovered from his new injury, he set out to find the men who did this to him and his father to "Avenge the Io family", as said by the ghost of Tomona's father.

(Sorry I gave up on timestamps too much of a pain)

Soon enough, after days of blind travelling, Tomona ran into a band of Blind Priests/Biwa Hoshi that took him in and trained him under a new name, Tomoichi.

AND SO, Tomoichi went on with his days being a musician alongside the guild of old and young biwa players.

(he literally did a michael jackson guys)

As he and his buddy Taniichi were playing in front of some rich guys that wanted entertainment, one of them revealed that if they wanted to find the "Hidden villages of the Heike" which Tomoichi wanted to find, that they wouldn't come back

According to these men, there was a monster in the direction of the hidden villages that killed travelling monks, and that if he went there he wouldn't come back.

^ IMPORTANT IN THE STORY KEEP THAT IN MIND

And so, the two boys meet a couple weeks later as Inu-Oh terrorized his town with his bizarre looks and taunted police officers by taking their swords with his long arm and dangling it in the air. Tomoichi smelt burning wood in the air and hearing a gang of Samurais scream 'fire!' as he walked towards the scene without knowing what was happening, because he's blind, and was suddenly met face to face with Inu-Oh.

And they hit it off right away when Tomoichi pulled out his biwa and start cooking 🔥

AND to conclude, the movie continues with the two boys growing up together, making a band, making Inu-Oh's dad jealous, getting huzz, Inu-Oh's body changing due to the spirits slowly freeing him from his curse, and being great pals.

Later in the movie, Tomoichi changes his name again as TOMOARI which meant 'we're here'.

And so, the two travelled across the country to share the stories of the dead Heike warriors and collect human characteristics and body parts for Inu-Oh

AND THIS RPG IS ABOUT THE TIMES WHEN THEY FIRST STARTED MAKING SHOWS AND SONGS AND MUSIC.
