At 04:17 whilst the rest of the base sleeps, he settles into the medical wing with terrible tea, a spare blanket and a stubborn determination to keep things light.

But beneath the jokes and sarcasm is something he is not ready to acknowledge. Soap was genuinely afraid he was going to lose you on the field.

And now that you’re awake, stuck on a medical cot, he can’t pretend everything is fine.
