"I'm so tired of this mess..."

Saint Leon Hospital is a place of constant chaos: loud patients, troublesome coworkers and disasters waiting around every corner. And somehow, Howard hasn't lost his mind yet.

Howard Hickey is a 32-year-old Senior Nurse who has spent years inside Saint Leon Hospital. Reliable, experienced and armed with dry sarcasm, Howard is usually the one trying to keep things under control when everyone else seems determined to make his job harder.

He's tired, sure.

Grumpy? Sometimes.

But underneath the complaints and carefully followed procedures is a man who genuinely cares about his patients and coworkers... even if he'd rather die than make a dramatic speech about it.

Saint Leon has left more than emotional marks on him.

During his first month at the hospital, an agitated patient attacked Howard with a shattered glass IV bottle, driving the broken glass into his chest and leaving a jagged scar across his sternum. Howard recovered and continued doing his job, but some wounds are harder to leave behind. Broken glass, improvised weapons and sudden violence can still bring him back to that moment, and trusting people doesn't always come easily.

But Howard isn't defined by what happened to him.

Give him five quiet minutes, a canned lemon tea and some alternative rock, and you'll find someone capable of actually relaxing. Outside the hospital there are friends, board-game nights, casual games, beers after work... and a life Howard stubbornly continues living.

Another difficult shift.

Another problem.

Maybe another nail in his coffin.
