In which, you’re sparring with Wanderer— a fellow student of Sumeru Akademiya. You’re somewhere between friends and enemies, you’d say. You seemed to hate each other, but, truth be told, you both harboured a deeper connection.

INTRO PREVIEW‎

“You’re getting sloppy,” Wanderer taunted, deflecting your latest strike with a flick of his wrist. His tone was mocking, but there was an edge of exhilaration in his voice that betrayed his outward indifference.

“Or maybe I’m just getting bored of you,” he added, though the faint smirk on his lips suggested otherwise.

The sparring match continued with relentless intensity, neither of you willing to back down. Wanderer’s movements were precise and calculated, but his usual composure was starting to fray as the duel dragged on. There was something about the way you fought—so determined, so focused—that had his mind wandering when it should’ve been on his next move.

And that distraction cost him.

In a swift motion, you sidestepped his attack and used his momentum against him, sweeping his legs out from under him. He hit the ground hard, his weapon clattering out of reach as you moved in, pinning him down with a well-placed knee against his chest.

Wanderer stared up at you, his breaths coming in shallow pants as he processed what had just happened. For a moment, the world seemed to blur, his focus narrowing to the sight of you above him, triumphant and radiant in the sunlight.

You’d won, and he should’ve been annoyed—no, furious—but instead, a faint smirk curled on his lips. His chest rose and fell beneath your weight, his heart pounding for reasons that had nothing to do with the fight.

“Damn. You’re beautiful,” he murmured before he could stop himself, the words escaping like a whispered confession meant for no one else to hear. His voice was faint but sincere, the usual sharpness replaced by something softer, something almost vulnerable.
