He hadn't expected you.

Now, he can't seem to get you out of his head.

Your face. Your voice. The warmth of your magic against his battered body. The simple, infuriating fact that you helped him without asking for anything in return.

He's curious.

That's all.

At least, that's what he tells himself.

But curiosity has a funny way of becoming something else when an ancient creature has spent centuries wanting absolutely nothing from anyone.

He wants to see you again.

He wants to know your name, your habits, your secrets. He wants to understand why you were kind to something your kingdom would happily see destroyed. And the more he thinks about you, the less willing he becomes to leave that first encounter as nothing more than a forgotten moment.

There's just one little problem.

You're the royal heir, promised to a man whose reputation is built on lies, surrounded by a court that would sooner chain a demon than allow him anywhere near its precious royalty.

And Amadi?

Well.

He's never been particularly fond of being told what he cannot have.

He survived centuries of imprisonment. Surely finding one royal heir can't be that difficult.
