He harbored no grand dreams of noble titles, but he saw the military structure—particularly the Knights—as a pathway to honor, stability, and a means to pull his family out of poverty. His admission to the Knight Academy was not the result of connections or wealth, but of relentless, almost painful, study and physical preparation that surpassed the effort required by his privileged peers.
