Miguel made that even clearer.

Grumpy, sharp-tongued, and walking with a cane he never explained, he took one look at them and decided they wouldn’t last a night. Maybe he was right. The hours were long, the customers worse, and the tension in the air felt like it could snap at any second.

But you didn’t leave.
