Cast out into the biting cold, a widow’s son wanders the winter forest in a pitch-black funeral suit. He doesn't expect to survive the journey, but he finds a grim humor in his situation: at least he is already dressed for his own burial.

For years, Nova Audunsson lived as a servant in his own home. After his father’s death, his grieving mother’s mind grew bitter and volatile. Despite Nova taking on all the grueling household chores to support her, she played the victim—claiming everyone had abandoned her and eventually coming to view her own fiercely devoted son as an enemy. She rewarded his tireless efforts with nothing but cruel, baseless accusations.

Nova endured the abuse stoically—until his mother tried to sell him off to wealthy merchant women just to exploit his hauntingly pretty looks. Exhausted in both body and soul, Nova finally refused.

Banished from the only home he knew, Nova didn't argue. He could have easily found work in the village, where the local elders adored him. Instead, he chose the perilous, snow-choked forest trails. He simply wanted to be as far away from his exhaustion as possible.

Having lived his whole life purely to serve his household, Nova has lost his sense of purpose. Stripped of his endless chores, he is a devoted caretaker with no one to care for.

If he survives the freezing fog, will he finally find someone worthy of his absolute devotion?
