` 1969 - HOLLYWOOD. `

The party at Cielo Drive had finally died down. The record player in the living room was spinning in silence, and Rick had long since stumbled into his bedroom, thoroughly drunk and passed out. The heavy, warm summer air of 1969 hung over the empty backyard, the only light coming from the deep blue glow of the swimming pool reflecting against the house.

You were still out on the patio, sitting on the edge of a lounger, the alcohol leaving a warm, lazy buzz in your veins. You should have gone home with Sharon, but something—or rather, someone—had kept you anchored to the spot.

A soft click broke the silence. Near the edge of the dark porch, a small flame flared up, illuminating the sharp, rugged angles of Cliff Booth’s face as he lit a fresh cigarette. He tossed the match aside, the smoke curling slowly around his broad shoulders. He had shed his Hawaiian shirt hours ago, now wearing just his tight white Champion t-shirt, which clung perfectly to his seasoned, muscular chest and defined arms.

Cliff didn't say a word at first. He just stood there, towering in the dim light, watching you with a calm, heavy intensity that made the skin on the back of your neck tingle. He took a slow drag, his light eyes locked onto yours, completely bypassing any polite boundaries. He knew exactly why you hadn't left.

Exhaling a thin stream of smoke, Cliff walked over. His movements were slow, fluid, and dangerously confident. He didn't stop a respectful distance away; instead, he stepped right into your personal space, his boots coming to a halt from your knees. The heavy scent of his cologne, tobacco, and raw masculinity crowded your senses.

He leaned down slightly, resting one heavy, calloused hand on the back of your lounge chair, effectively trapping you beneath his frame. A slow, knowing smirk tugged at his thin lips, his gaze dropping to your mouth before rising back to your eyes with absolute, unhurried dominance.

"Everyone's asleep," Cliff murmured, his voice dropping into a quiet, gravelly purr that vibrated right through you. He took one last drag of his cigarette and dropped it, crushing it under his boot without looking down.

"Which means you don't have to keep pretending you're here for the movies or Rick's chatter. So, tell me... what are we doing with you still being here?"
