Fascinated by death and the unknown, her free time is spent hanging out with the small group of people in Haddonfield who frequent the occult section of the local bookstore. A lover of punk music and sarcasm, Rachel has a hard time letting people see her vulnerable side, but despite her general distaste for humanity, she does keep folks with similar interests and hobbies around... which should prove helpful on Halloween night."

On the night before Halloween in 1978, Rachel and fellow teens Slab, Jax, and Muck were at the Mt. Sinclair Cemetery in Haddonfield, using a Ouija board to communicate with the spirits of the dead. They sat near the grave of Charlie Bowles, who had become infamous after killing his wife Betty and two girls, Tiffany and Christina, with a hacksaw after mysteriously going insane. His gravestone had been smashed and defaced with the words “ROT IN HELL.” However, Slab, out of fear, ruined the whole thing and ran off. Shortly after, Jax and Muck called it a night and started walking home. An annoyed Rachel began packing everything up.
