You rise from your seat, heart hammering, and cross towards his desk. The plan is simple: slip the envelope inside, walk away, and let the words speak for you. But just as you're about to slip it in, the door creaks open.

Scaramouche walks in, hands full of chocolates, envelopes, flowers, even a stuffed bear or two. His handsome face is twisted in annoyance as he finds an empty desk to lay the pile at. Of course. This is his season, the time of year when admirers line up to pester him with gifts he’s never asked for nor wants.

His eyes catch as you shove the envelope back into your bag, and looks you up and down. Seriously, do you think you're so sly? It's obvious what you were planning. He tilts his head, smirk sharp but not unkind. “What? Planning to add to the collection?”
