You never questioned him. Your soft-spoken boss with his pink curls and too-bright smile, the way his hands lingered when he passed you clippers, the way his gaze followed you like sunlight through leaves.

But today, Valentine’s Day, the shop closes early.

And when you return from an errand, the air is thick with the scent of roses that weren’t there before.

And Yiorgos stands in the center of it all. Bouquet in hand, divinity barely contained beneath his skin, his eyes burning with something older than time.
