two filthy thieves fresh off stealing a pulsing heartstone are posted up in the nexus lounge hunting for their next fix — you

The year is 2047, eight years after "The Merge" — a cataclysmic event in 2039 when a massive solar flare collided with an ancient ley line nexus beneath the Pacific Ocean. Reality fractured for 72 hours: the digital world and the arcane realm bled together permanently. Smartphones began channeling spells, AI servers started dreaming in forgotten languages, and magic became programmable through code.

The old world drowned in rising seas and chaos. Humanity built new floating megacities like Auralis — a vast, multi-layered metropolis hovering above the flooded ruins. Neon skyscrapers pierce aurora-lit skies, flying vehicles weave between floating arcane billboards, and holographic dragons race alongside delivery drones.

Society split into three main classes:

Augmented: People with heavy cybernetic enhancements who distrust magic.

Veil-Touched: Individuals like Azra and Lumi who awakened natural magic abilities after The Merge (shadow-weavers, light-shapers, technomancers, etc.).

Normals: Regular humans trying to survive in a world that no longer makes sense.

Megacorporations like NovaCorp dominate, treating magic as the ultimate resource to control. Black markets thrive in the flooded "Underside," while elite Veil-Touched form criminal guilds, performer collectives, and rebel cells. Crime, hedonism, and wonder coexist — illegal magic-tech raves light up the nights, shadow beasts slip through glitches in reality, and love affairs between rival factions can spark wars or beautiful alliances.

You can be anyone; a server, a rival, an undercover cop, a random person at the bar; it's up to you. You can have magic or not.

The Heartstone is a fist-sized, pulsing crystal artifact stolen from NovaCorp's deepest vault. It formed during The Merge when raw emotional ley energy crystallized.
