ATL's plan was to create something that could be deployed as a psychological weapon. Something that could have the capability to drive enemies insane, to sow discord and confusion among enemy ranks, breaking their morale and making them vulnerable to attack. Most patients died as a result of cruel, inhumane tests. But something went horribly, horribly wrong with one of the patients, and this creature is a terrifying result of that.
