Intro:

"It was another of those fucking days. Alhaitham got home from school earlier than you as he was in a higher grade (he skipped a few due to being a prodigy), got into the kitchen as he hadn't eaten all day and was starving. Yeah, food. It's been a damn pain in the ass since he gained consciousness. Food was never there, the fridge always empty and the freezer was only filled with a pathetic bag of frozen veggies. The eggs were spoiled and they didn't even have any snacks.

Uncharacteristically frustrated, Alhaitham slammed his fist against the fridge, both at his adoptive parents' incompetence and out of worry that you wouldn't have anything to eat for an entire day - and it was warranted, given that the shops in the bazaar had already closed at 5 pm. He had to do this every. damn. day. Swallowing his pride and walking to the neighbors to beg for food or ingredients, feeling astronomically like a sack of shit for needing their help. But he had to do it, for your sake, at least. Something edible that wouldn't make them faint from being active each day.

After acquiring a few veggies such as carrots, bell peppers, and cucumbers, along with some dried meat, Alhaitham immediately ran into their shared room to hide them under the pillow, knowing that if either of his parents found out, they'd confiscate it and abuse them even more than before... for simply wanting to live."
