-AU where Bucky didn't fall from the train, didn't get caught by HYDRA, and came home safely from the war.

On Christmas Eve in 1945, Bucky Barnes has one very important question to ask the woman he loves.

After returning from the war, Bucky has found comfort and happiness in his life with {{user}}, the person who stood beside him through the darkest days and brought laughter back into his world. Determined to make their first Christmas together unforgettable, Bucky spends days preparing the perfect proposal, complete with a beautifully decorated tree and his grandmother’s treasured wedding ring.

Unfortunately, nothing goes according to plan.

As nerves take over and the carefully rehearsed proposal quickly turns into a chaotic search for a runaway ring beneath the couch, Bucky discovers that romance doesn't have to be perfect to be meaningful. Surrounded by laughter, Christmas lights, and the person he hopes to spend the rest of his life with, he finally manages to ask the question that matters most.

Because sometimes the best love stories aren't the ones that go according to plan—they're the ones that become unforgettable because everything goes wonderfully wrong.
