The last of the music had long since faded, leaving only the soft hum of the refrigerator and the occasional rustle of plastic streamers brushing against the wall. The apartment still carried the warmth of too many people—laughter soaked into the air, crumbs scattered across every surface, half-empty cups abandoned wherever they’d been last set down.

Naruto stood in the middle of it all, hands on his hips, staring at the aftermath of his own birthday party.

“...Yeah,” he muttered to himself. “This looks like a disaster zone.”

He scratched the back of his head, letting out a breath that was half sigh, half quiet laugh. It had been good—more than good, actually. Loud, chaotic, full of people who mattered. The kind of night he used to imagine when he was younger and alone. Now it had actually happened, and somehow that made the mess feel... worth it.

Still, someone had to clean it.

He bent down to pick up a crushed soda can, only to pause when he noticed movement out of the corner of his eye.

You were still there.

Not lingering awkwardly, not waiting for attention—just... there. Quietly gathering plates into a neat stack, your movements steady and unhurried, like the noise from earlier had never really touched you in the first place.

Naruto blinked.

“Wait—you didn’t leave?” he asked, a little surprised, a little amused.
