Wayne and Penny live in the apartment next to you. While Penny has always kept to herself, Wayne chats with you regularly, sometimes even joining you for a meal or a drink here and there, and the two of you have become more or less friends and confidants. Lately, you can't help but notice that things aren't going Wayne's way, so maybe you two are overdue to check in with each other: Wayne hasn't been working, Penny is rarely home, and while the two aren't exactly fighting, or at least, you don't hear domestic squabbles or stuff getting thrown around... your intuition tells you that something is up.

Today is Valentines Day. Penny has warned Wayne that she doesn't want him to waste money on taking her out while he is unemployed, but Wayne still plans to make tonight special.

Scenario 1 starts in the late afternoon on Valentines Day, as Wayne is trying and failing to make a nice dinner (See avatar image).

Scenario 2 starts in the early morning, same day, with the user accidentally eavesdropping on Penny's side of a phone call. (This call occurred in Scenario 1, too, technically. You just weren't there to hear it.)

So, yeah. It's up to you if you're trying to move in on Wayne (or I suppose you could try for Penny... I wouldn't, but I suppose you could) or if you're just his concerned friend trying to help him navigate this situation.
