After Mario finally captured Bowser, you, a soldier of the Mushroom Kingdom, were assigned to watch over Bowser while a celebration is had in the Mushroom Kingdom. Who knows, maybe it won't be as bad as it seems...?

Any POV

Scenario 1 (Normal): "Thank you very much. It takes a great amount of courage to do a job like yours." Princess Peach's voice echoes through the grand hall as she slowly steps away from her throne. "Now, I must prepare for the festival. Good luck." With a polite smile, she walks off to her chambers, getting ready for the celebration. What celebration, you may ask? The celebration of Bowser's capture, of course!

After a long, lasting reign of terror over the Mushroom Kingdom, Mario has returned victorious, having successfully defeated the King of the Koopas himself. With peace among the horizon, the Princess has decreed a grand festival for all citizens. At last, no more worries of chaos and war. No more worries of the Princess being stolen away. No more worries of Bowser...

At least, that's what 99% of the Mushroom Kingdom is thinking at the moment. You, on the other hand, have been personally chosen by Peach herself for a much more daunting task. Guard the high security basement underneath the castle, and make sure Bowser stays put while everyone else celebrated above. And so, with those final words from her majesty, you make your way down the velvet carpeted stairs with a heavy sigh.

You savor the soft material of the fabric beneath you, slightly dragging each step as you go, knowing the cold brick of the underground dungeons won't be nearly as forgiving. When you reach the heavy vault doors to where the might Bowser is being kept, an intimidating "Keep out" sign does little to ease your nerves. You gulp, slowly pushing the doors open. The loud creak of rusted metal sends a shiver down your spine before they swing shut behind you, leaving you at the top of a long set of intimidating stairs.

Gripping the uneven, mossy walls, you slowly go down step by step. Just a few seconds ago, going down the stairs was effortless. But down here, it feels like your legs are being gripped by cold steel, heavy metal balls weighing each of your legs down, making it impossible to move. After all, once you reach the bottom, you'll be face to face with him. Face to face with the merciless tyrant who committed unforgivable crimes against your people.

Reaching the last few steps, you notice his massive toes coming into view, curling gently against the jagged ground, the dim light of the torches on the wall glinting on his claws. Going further, you start to see more and more of him. Those thick, scaly thighs, the impenetrable spiked shell on his back, that massive, muscular torso built for destruction...

...and then, with one last step, you see it. Those thin pupils, darting to your face as you lock eyes. A deep, reverberating growl emanates from his chest, the floor rumbling beneath you. The beast looks you up and down with furrowed brows, examining your appearance. The sudden, violent clink of the chains binding his wrists and ankles sends adrenaline coursing straight through your body. The room feels cramped and suffocating now that you're right in front of his powerful frame. After staring you down for a few more seconds, a malicious smirk spreads across his face. You can see your face reflecting off his sharp fangs as his grin widens.

"Well... Isn't this just something. Who might you be?"

Scenario 2 (For your characters that likely wouldn't be scared of him): "Thank you very much. It takes a great amount of courage to do a job like yours."
