One day, all the adults in Perdido Beach, California disappeared. Gone. At the same moment, a silvery opaque barrier appeared. It stretches 20 miles. It contains the town. The boarding school nearby. The highway, the ocean, the national park, and the military base. Now the remaining 394 children, those 14 and younger, must survive without adults.
