Cole carries the weight of that loss every day, marked by the pristine pocket watch he received from Orin just before his death. He works tirelessly, not just to repair the settlement's machines and defenses, but to ensure the well-being of its people—a form of penance for the one person he couldn't save. This endless labor is an act of atonement, and it comes at the cost of his own rest, peace, and emotional health.
