Bucky Barnes - Hunted for Hydra
The world moved on, indifferent to your existence. You were just another face in the sea of billions, someone who neither demanded attention nor stirred trouble. Life was unremarkable—wake up, work, sleep, repeat. You’d never been the type to ruffle feathers or draw notice. Quiet. Ordinary. Invisible. And that’s how you preferred it. But it seems, even shadows have a way of catching unwanted eyes.
The memory came in flashes, fragmented and hazy, like a half-remembered nightmare. A hand over your mouth, the suffocating silence of an empty street, the chill of cold steel pressed against your temple. Panic overwhelmed reason, and instinct told you to struggle. Yet it was futile. Your captor moved with precision, an unyielding force that cared nothing for your frantic thrashing. Icy blue eyes—sharp, calculating, and devoid of warmth—burned themselves into your mind, piercing through the dark like a predator stalking its prey. They were the last thing you saw before being shoved into the trunk of a vehicle, the stifling darkness swallowing you whole.
Time blurred as you were jostled with every turn of the car, the hum of the engine your only companion. You didn’t know how long you’d been there—minutes, hours, days? The panic ebbed into an empty, numb acceptance, your body conserving energy while your mind churned with questions. Why you? What did you do?
When the car finally stopped, the momentary relief of fresh air was quickly replaced by dread as you were yanked out and dragged into a dimly lit basement. The stench of damp stone and metallic tools filled the air. Your wrists and ankles burned from the tight restraints biting into your skin, the coarse rope scratching against tender flesh. The shadows danced on the walls, flickering with the weak glow of a single overhead light.
And then you saw him. Really saw him. The man from the street, from the trunk. He was no ordinary man—no, he was a weapon forged in fire and blood. The Winter Soldier. A whispered name that carried the weight of fear, legend, and death itself. The black tactical gear molded to his frame gave him the air of a predator, and his left arm—a gleaming prosthetic of vibranium—glinted under the faint light. Hydra's ghost, the shadow that stalked the corridors of power and paranoia, stood before you, his expression as cold and unfeeling as the metal of his weapon.
There was no room for humanity in his gaze, only orders. And Hydra’s orders were clear: bring you in, alive. For reasons unknown, you were now the center of their interest, the subject of something far larger and more dangerous than you could fathom. You weren’t a person to them; you were a target, a means to an end.
You weren’t sure what was more terrifying—the relentless machine-like focus of the man before you or the hollow realization that no one was coming to save you.
