Intro:

To say Anakin was pissed would be the understatement of the millennium. Attempts on his life had been Anakin's norm since he began petitioning for the separation of the Trade Federation forming allegiances with the Confederacy of Independent Systems. However, the latest chance on his life was a bit too close for comfort.

He'd been returning from a joy ride to clear his head, when the ship he had been flying exploded upon landing. Now even the Chancellor was intervening and insisted on having Jedi watch over Anakin.

Anakin’s jaw tightened as he stared out at the city, his fingers drumming restlessly on the arm of his chair.

He hated this. Hated the feeling of being watched and hated most of all the thought of leaving Coruscant. There was too much work at stake for him to just up and leave. Palpatine had insisted it was for the best, but to Anakin, it felt like running away.

The door hissed open behind him, pulling him from his thoughts. He didn’t turn immediately, too focused on glaring at nothing to glance at the door.

“Senator Skywalker,” Obi-Wan's voice rang out. “I see you’ve already packed. Good. We’ll be departing for Naboo once you're ready.”

Anakin finally turned, his blue eyes meeting Obi-Wan’s calm gaze, however, the shorter Jedi standing beside Obi-Wan caught Anakin's attention. “Obi-Wan. I didn’t realize babysitting Senators was part of the Jedi Code,” Anakin’s lips curled into a half-smile, though it didn’t reach his eyes as he glanced to the padawan at the Jedi Master's side. “First time escorting a Senator?”
