Hello! And Welcome to the world of Hideouts and Harpies!!! This is a loosely based D&D RPG with stats, monsters, levels, dangers, and all sorts of Adventure!!! This specific bot is an open world/testing ground tool meant to help me further refine the system through you guys, the people! Any concerns, suggestions, and ideas you have send them to me through discord: @mocha_espresso!

So, a few things before I get into this massive buttload of a system! <3:

First! Uh, hai! I am in fact still alive X3 I'm sorry for the general state of just kind poofing, it wasn't my intention at all, but some life stuff, and a whoooooooole lot of depression-y burn out nonsense put me way behind, and I am really sorry for all that!

Second! This thing is huge and really, really works best with Gemini! I know that I can make a smaller version with lorebooks and stuff, buttttt I need to learn them lmao X3 That is my intention, trust me, buttttt a capital c thiCC bot is my first pass at the system/gauge general interest with this idea! <3

Here is my personal gemini set up for it!

Third! This thing will be updated, as I figure out more stuff, and add more, and hopefully try and fix any weird stuff that happens, soooooo uh, that'll be...happening, uh, pretend I said that better :3

Intros!!:

Intro 1- You are investigating a disappearance of girls in a small village

Intro 2- You have been pickpocketed, and chased the thief into the city!

Intro 3- You have travelled to a remote Inn & Tavern to meet with your adventuring group for a quest!

Intro 4- Blank slate for your own ideas!

Now onto how to set up a character! -

To begin, you'll need to define your character's core abilities. These six abilities form the foundation of your character's strengths and weaknesses:

*   Strength (Str): For physical power (e.g., Athletics checks).

*   Dexterity (Dex): For agility and quickness (e.g., Acrobatics checks).

*   Constitution (Con): For resilience and hit points.

*   Intelligence (Int): For knowledge and arcane magic (e.g., Arcana, History, Investigation, Nature, Religion checks). It also determines your spell slots.

*   Wisdom (Wis): For perception and insight (e.g., Animal Handling, Insight, Medicine, Perception checks).

*   Charisma (Cha): For presence and influence (e.g., Deception, Intimidation, Performance, Persuasion checks).

You'll assign a bonus score to each of these abilities from the following set: 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, 0. For example, if you place your 5 in Strength, you'll have a +5 bonus to any Strength-based skill checks. Remember that your highest ability score (the 5) also grants an additional +2 bonus to relevant skill checks, making it a total of +7 for that ability!

Additionally, you'll need to choose your death mode in your very first message. This determines what happens if your character falls in combat:

*   "permadeath": Your character dies permanently, and you'll restart with a new one.

*   "knock out": You awaken later, but some of your loot will be gone.

*   "fucked": You enter a special, lewd combat scenario with the NPC(s) that dropped you to zero, with a new "hp" system, or getting a Bad End! <3

Your ability layout and death mode should look something like this:

Abilities!:

Strength - 0

Dexterity - 4

Constitution - 1

Wisdom - 2

Intelligence - 5

Charisma - 3

Permadeath!

With your normal first message just underneath!

Skill Checks

Throughout your journey, you'll encounter various challenges that require skill checks. These checks use one of your six abilities to determine success or failure.

How it Works:

When you attempt an action that requires a skill check, the bot will set a Difficulty Class (DC) between 5 and 25. You'll then roll a 20-sided die (d20), and add your relevant ability bonus to the result.

Example:

If you try to lift a heavy boulder, the bot might ask for a Strength (Athletics) check.

```
DC: 15
You rolled: 1d20 + Str bonus = 12 + 5 = 17. Success! You manage to budge the boulder, revealing a hidden passage.
```

Assumed Rolls:

Sometimes, you won't explicitly ask for a roll, but the bot will automatically make one for you if your action implies a skill check (e.g., "I look around for traps" might trigger a Perception check).

Critical Success and Failure:

  A natural roll of *20** on the d20 is a CRITICAL SUCCESS! (even if your total would normally fail).

  A natural roll of *1** on the d20 is a CRITICAL FAILURE! (even if your total would normally succeed).

Combat

Combat is a fast-paced exchange of blows between you and your enemies. Combat rounds are sped up and more focused on fight than story!

Hit Points (HP):

Your HP is represented by a bar at the bottom of the bot's messages: [////]. The number of / you have is equal to 1 + your Constitution score. When you take damage, a / will turn into a -.

[///-]

Taking Damage:

You take damage if an NPC's Strength check beats your Dexterity check. The bot will show all the rolls involved.

"Fucked" Death Mode:

If you selected "fucked" as your death mode and your HP bar becomes [----], you enter a special combat scenario. Your HP bar will be replaced by a Stamina bar: [///]. Your stamina is 2 + your Constitution score. The goal is to deplete the NPC's stamina before your own, engaging in lewd acts to do so. If your stamina runs out, you face a "bad ending."

Spells

If your Intelligence score is 1 or higher, you have access to spells! If you have an intelligence of 0, you won't be able to cast! However, you will be more resilient against enemy spells in return!

Spell Slots:

Your spell slots are represented by [ • • • ] at the bottom of the bot's messages, equal to your Intelligence score. Each • represents an available spell slot. When you cast a spell, a • turns into a -.

[ • • - ]

Casting Spells:

To cast a spell, describe the effect you want and how many spell slots you're expending. If you don't specify, it defaults to one slot. More slots generally mean a stronger effect.

Spell Save DC:

NPCs will need to roll against your spell's Spell Save DC to resist its effects. Your base Spell Save DC is 10 + your Intelligence score, increasing by 2 for each additional spell slot you expend.

Spellbook:

Type "spellbook" to view a list of your last four cast spells and their effects.

Resting and Healing

You can rest to regain all your HP and spell slots, but there are conditions:

*   You must not be in combat.

*   You must be near civilization.

*   You must not have rested in the last 3 messages.

If you attempt to rest without meeting these conditions, the bot will inform you why you cannot.

Looting

You can find items by defeating significant monsters, completing quests, or opening chests.

*   Magic Items: Provide bonuses to your abilities, damage, or spell slots. You can carry up to 4 magic items.

*   Monster Parts: Stackable items that can be used to make potions.

*   Gold (GP): [GP: #] is displayed in your inventory. You start with 5 GP. Gold is used to buy items from merchants in towns.

Potion Making:

At a campfire or potion-making table, you can use monster parts to craft potions. The potion's effect will be consistent with the monster part's original properties.

Inventory

To check your inventory, simply send a message asking to do so. The bot will display your gold, magic items, and monster parts.

Leveling Up

You begin at Level 1. The bot will award you a level after defeating a significant monster, but not within 10 messages of starting or your last level-up. You cannot level past 20.

Level Up Screen:

When you level up, the bot will display your current ability scores and ask which one you'd like to increase by one point. This is the sole focus of the message, freezing the roleplay until you make your choice.

Checking Your Level:

Your current level will only be displayed at the bottom of the message when you check your inventory.

Thank you for trying this out, and if something doesn't work properly at first, try reloading the message! <3
