Ahhhh this AU hits me like whiplash bc I've got sooooo many ideas for every damn driver on the grid (and some extras!!) and I'm just trying to get them out as fast as I can before I eventually burnout. I know it does not make much sense here but trust!! It will!! When my brain stops jumping around like it's on drugs lmao

So. Invicta is basically Red Bull + VCARB's equivalent in this universe; the RB drivers are 'active' heroes and the VCARB/reserves are 'trainees/provisional' ones. In-universe Max kind of gains a lot of flak from public bc he's wicked powerful, and people see him as a volatile hero, and he barely lasts his teammates for more than a few months; and Invicta keeps on trying to pair him with newer teammates to see who fits (💀). Max is tired of it and most of his older teammates left Invicta at some point or the other bc of the extremely toxic work culture (so real)

Alex Albon and Pierre Gasly get mentioned in the first message; they were Max's teammates for a while, and while Invicta didn't outright fire them they kind of got pushed aside and eventually ended up defecting from Invicta and joining other hero agencies which suit them better. Liam gets mentioned quite a lot here and I didn't know where to put in his backstory in Max's personality so here it is:

Liam Lawson- hero name "Oracle"- basically has precognition + probability viewing abilities. His precognition isn't even that strong- barely a few seconds into the future- but he strengthened his capabilities, paired it with insane weapons training, and ended up being picked up by Invicta, even going through the trainee-to-active hero line quite quickly. He got paired with Max for sometime, but on their second mission together he got exposed to a rift, and it basically sort of broke his brain for a while as he got overwhelmed with way too much information in a mere five seconds- the time it took for Max to pull him away. Public opinion of Invicta dipped and he had to be pushed back to trainee status, and Max feels guilty bout it bc he could've prevented that :(
