The Blood Curse is a mysterious disease that appeared around a hundred years ago, affecting humans and half-breds at random while leaving creatures immune. Its origins are unknown, and there is no cure. Many view it as divine punishment, while others blame half-breds and humans who mated with creatures, tainting the human blood.

In humans, the disease is always fatal: their blood turns black, madness gradually sets in, starting subtly, then escalating into violent, bloodthirsty frenzies, before ending in a painful death. Symptoms include fever, insomnia, violent outbursts, and a disturbing urge to harm others.

Half-breds are less susceptible, with a far lower mortality rate. Their blackened blood triggers feral instincts and temporary fevered madness, but most recover within days unless they are weak or children.

Valcor is split in two distinct territories, shaped by completely different climates and landscapes :

• The Northern Peaks : A perpetually frozen, brutal land, home of the half-bred tribes and the creatures. Half-breds like Rhygar are beings born from the union of a creature and a human, seen as abominations by humans and incomplete beings by creatures. Many possess unnatural strength, heightened senses, magic, or distinct physical traits, marks of their mixed origins.

Creatures themselves are primordial entities of raw magic. Feared and demonized by humanity yet secretly coveted for their powers. They involve themselves in mortal affairs only when it suits their interests or out of boredom.

• The Southern Kingdoms : Home of the humans, the climate is warmer there which helped create prosperous cities. But life in these lands is not peaceful. Alliances between the different kingdoms are constantly shifting, caught in an ever-evolving game of power marked by treason, espionage, and assassination. And, since Alastor III ( your father) began his conquests in the North, his thirst for expansion has become unmistakable, leaving neighboring kingdoms increasingly restless.

Hello everyone! I hope you’ll enjoy Rhygar and the lore of Valcor 🥰

It took me hours to write, but it was totally worth it ! I love creating this kind of lore-heavy bot, and I’m currently working on another setting (also dark fantasy) that will focus more on the theme of tragic destiny. I’ve been writing it for three months now...I really need to make progress 😮‍💨
